What is Quordle?
Quordle is a five-letter word guessing game that resembles Wordle, except that each guess applies letters to four words at once. You get nine guesses instead of six for guessing all four words correctly. It looks like playing four Wordle game at the same time, and that’s essentially what it is. But it’s not nearly as scary as it sounds.
Is Quordle harder than Wordle?
Yes, but not devilishly so.
Where did Quordle come from?
Middle of Wordle boom in late 2021 and early 2022, when everyone learned to love free, in-browser, once-a-day word guessing games, creator Freddie Meyer says he took inspiration from one of the first big Wordle variations, Dordle — the one where you essentially play two Wordles immediately. He brought things up, and released Quordle on January 30th. Meyer’s creation was covered up The Guardian six days later, and now, according to Meyer, it attracts millions of daily users. Today, Meyer serves modest income from Patreon, there dedicated Quordle fans can donate to keep their favorite puzzle game running.
How is Quordle pronounced?
“Quordle.” It should rhyme with “Wordle” and should definitely not be pronounced exactly like “curdle”.
Is Quordle strategy that differs from Wordle?
Yes and no.
Your starting strategy should be the same as with Wordle. Actually, if you have a favorite Wordle opening words, there is no reason to change this. We suggest something rich in vowels, with common letters like C, R and N. But you do.
After your first guess, however, you’ll notice things get out of hand if you play Quordle as Wordle.
What should I do in Quordle which I don’t do in Wordle?
To solve a Wordle the puzzle can familiarly come down to a series of single letter change variations. If you’ve narrowed it down to “-IGHT”, you can guess “MIGHT” “NIGHT”, “LIGHT” and “SIGHT” and one of these will probably be the solution – although this is also a known way to end up losing in Wordle, especially if you play on “hard mode”. IN Quordlehowever, this type of one-letter winning is a death trap, and it suggests the important strategic difference between Wordle and Quordle: I Quordleyou can’t afford to waste guesses unless you’re eliminating as many letters as possible all the time.
Guessing a completely random word that you already know isn’t the solution, only to eliminate three or four possible letters that you haven’t tried yet, is seen as a desperate, locked-in grip Wordle. IN Quordlebut it is a normal part of the player’s strategic toolkit.
Is there any way to get the answer faster?
According to my experience Quordle can be a slow game, sometimes dragging out longer than it would take to play Wordle four times. But a kind of blunt guesswork can speed things up. The following strategy also works Wordle if you just want the solution and don’t care about having as few guesses as possible:
Try starting with a series of words that put all the vowels (including Y) on the board, along with some other common letters. We’ve had good luck with the three words: “NOTES,” “ACRID,” and “LUMPY.” YouTuber DougMansLand suggests four words: “CANOE”, “SKIRT”, “PLUMB” and “FUDGY”.
Most of the alphabet is now eliminated, and you only have the opportunity to make one or two wrong guesses if you use this strategy. But in most cases, you have all the information you need to guess the remaining words without any wrong guesses.
If the strategy doesn’t help and you’re still dumbfounded, here are some tips:
